Lvov asks EBRD to give money for building railroad tracks of European standard
Lvov (Lviv) municipality is going to ask European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to invest 4 millions Euro into building the railroad tracks from Peremyshl to Lvov as a part of preparation for Euro-2012. Consul General of Poland Veslav Osukhovski support this plan: "I believe it is better to build a good railroad, than rebuild the airports".
Most of Ukrainian railroad tracks were built during the Soviet Union period and their standard doesn't correspond to European. In Ukraine as well as Russia has "narrow gauge", while Europe has "broad gauge". After the train crosses the border it has to "change the wheels" to continue the way across Europe.
